Your Guide to Roadware MatchCrete Clear

If you’ve recently purchased Roadware MatchCrete Clear from Resinous Flooring Supply, you may have some questions – we’re here to help. Read below for everything you need to know about this product:

What is this product?

MatchCrete Clear from Roadware is a great repair solution for pesky cracks, spalls, and joints in concrete that faces frequent UV exposure. The material stays clear, from application to curing, but pigments or colored sand can be added to match the color of decorative concrete. If no color pigments are added, the material stays clear, even when faced with UV exposure over time.

Basic Info:

  • As with any other product on the market, MatchCrete Clear will not cause cracks or defects to disappear completely. However, it makes these imperfections much less noticeable. This semi-rigid material should not be used in high-movement joints and cracks. Be sure to determine the underlying issue causing the concrete failure so you can choose the appropriate course of action.
  • This product should only be used by professionals and trained applicators. Do not allow this material to get on your skin.
  • All cracks, spalls, pop-outs, and joints should be prepared using standard application directions. Make sure concrete, substrate, and all materials are totally dry.
  • When using sand to change the product’s color, achieving the desired coloring may require some experimentation. Begin with dry silica sand and a dusting of concrete dust as the product cures. Flint, concrete sand, and colored quartz may also be used. Be sure any sand used is dry, free of dirt or other organic material, and hard.
  • This product cures to a completely clear appearance if no pigments or sands are added.
  • Use this product with an assembled dual cartridge and apply directly to the repair area. Silica sand will be needed to prevent the material from the area od repair. Be sure to apply the material and add sand as you proceed and do not place the sand first to flow the material into it.
  • A margin trowel should be used to complete the repairs. To keep the repair flush, leave the repairs slightly higher than grade. To blend, dry concrete dust may be added while the material cures.
  • Repairs need 30 – 90 minutes to fully cure. However, the exact amount of time depends on the temperature and size of repair before grinding or honing. Product should cure 24 hours before polishing.

Common Questions:

Does this product change color when exposed to direct sunlight over time?

The aliphatic polyurethane formula resists color change due to UV exposure. However, the color can be changed if sand or pigments are added.

Can hairline cracks be repaired with the needle tip mixers?

This product is compatible with Roadware Needle Tip Mixers and accessories.

What type of color can be added?

For most repairs, quartz or colored sand can be used to match colors. Additionally, small amounts of powdered concrete pigments can be blended with the sand before mixing with MatchCrete Clear.

Can concrete dust be added to this product?

Yes, a limited amount can be used as the product cures. However, you should test and experiment before use.

Can colors be mixed and matched?

Yes, colors and sand can be mixed and matched for the desired color and texture.

Can too much color be added?

Yes. You should use only the amount of color needed for the job. Adding too much cement powder or powdered color to the sand can hinder the results of the repair.

Does color have to be added?

No, the product can be used as is for a clear effect.
